This book captivated me after the first few chapters. I grew to love the characters, their struggles, perseverance and faith. I hadn'​t ever heard about what happened and it was great to read about it, remember this generation and discover new parts of the world. I felt like I was there. I am not a history buff, therefore my preference is not historical fiction, however . . . Pamela Atherstone has integrated history with such a compelling story line that the reader does not realize they are actually reading history. Her prose is webbed so delicately that the reader wants to turn page after page.
